Autumn Dog Photography in Lancaster, Morecambe & Lancashire
Autumn is one of my favourite times of year for outdoor dog photography.
The changing colours, fallen leaves and softer light can turn familiar places into beautiful natural backdrops. Cooler days can also make outdoor sessions much more comfortable for our dogs.
This autumn I'm offering a limited number of Autumn Dog Photography Experiences at Williamson Park, Lancaster.
Only 10 sessions are available for Autumn 2026.
Each £295 experience includes:
- Up to one hour of relaxed outdoor photography
- Up to two dogs from the same household
- 5 professionally edited high-resolution digital photographs
- One 11×14 professional photographic print
There is no minimum order and no requirement to buy anything else.
Why Book an Autumn Dog Photo Shoot?
Beautiful autumn colours
Williamson Park changes dramatically during autumn.
The greens of summer give way to warmer reds, oranges and golden tones. Fallen leaves, woodland paths and stone features give us lots of different backgrounds without having to travel from one location to another.
And if your dog decides that running through the leaves is more fun than sitting nicely beside them, that's fine too!
Softer seasonal light
One of the challenges of photographing dogs outdoors during summer is strong sunlight.
As autumn arrives, the sun sits lower in the sky. That can give us softer light and rich colours that work beautifully for natural dog portraits.
It also gives us plenty of opportunities for a mixture of portraits, action photographs and those little unplanned moments that often become favourites.
Cooler weather for your dog
Not every dog enjoys being outside on a hot summer day.
The cooler temperatures of autumn can make a photography session much more comfortable, particularly for older dogs and dogs with heavier coats.
My sessions are never rushed. We can stop for breaks, have a wander or simply give your dog a little time to settle.

Your Dog Doesn't Need to Behave Perfectly
This is something I tell clients all the time.
Your dog doesn't need perfect recall, doesn't need to sit on command and doesn't need to be off lead.
Excitable dogs are welcome. So are shy, nervous and reactive dogs.
Sessions are calm and dog-led. If your dog needs a little more space or time, we'll work around them rather than trying to force them to behave for the camera.
Dogs can remain on a lead when necessary and I can usually remove the lead afterwards during editing. Harnesses cannot always be removed, so a collar and lead is often the better choice where practical.
Don't Forget the Humans!
Your dog may be the star of the session, but you don't have to stay behind the camera.
Some of the photographs that become most important are the simple ones showing a dog with the person they love.
You don't need to pose or dress formally. These can be relaxed photographs of you walking together, sitting together or simply enjoying a quiet moment.
After all, photographs of your dog are important.
Photographs of the two of you together tell another part of the story.
